Finally knocked one off the project list. I did a whole lot of beading early in the year and then nothing for months, but this was a project that I started in ... I want to say fall of 2014??? and never finished till now. Anyway, now it is done.
I rarely give names to my pieces but this one, from the start, was inspired by a remote and very dangerous cavern in the Sierra Nevada, which I learned of while watching a documentary on such things. I liked the name. :-)
What we have here is a small piece of polished agate, connected to a beadwoven backing and then attached to a piece of fabric. Bead embroidery followed. The surrounding items ... well, you'll see.
The panel, fringed with glass drops. Above you can see the earrings I made to go with, which feature beads from the Czech Republic made to look like fossils.
The finished set.
And a detail shot. This piece gets back to a style I experimented with over 20 years ago. It's not for everybody, but I like it.
