Well, it has been a little quiet around here, and the reasons are legion. Chief among them is an imminent change of residence.
Mr. P and I have lived in Beverly Hills from the get-go. I lived there, he moved in with me, we moved to a slightly larger apartment right after we got married, and then moved again into the big apartment we've been in since 2003.
But that big apartment, expensive from the start, has grown more so over the years. Meanwhile, our income has not increased in proportion to our costs of living. And the latest notice of rent increase was pretty much the last straw.
So we will be moving this summer, out of Beverly Hills. This means a lot of big, big changes. And time-consuming pre-move projects. We are both engaged in some overdue decluttering. As all serious declutterers know, these projects tend to take a good deal more time than an outsider would estimate, which explains why a lot of us put them off until we can't. (And why a lot of people never get it done at all.)
I consider the Decluttering Imperative to be a big "plus" in the moving equation; it's right up there with finding a place with more privacy at a lower rent. I'm really glad that I started the process so long ago, and have done so much already.
