I still haven't done a hand-inventory of the remaining books, because I keep finding more to pull out of the collection, and at this point it seems like a waste of time to do before we move. Probably I will do it as I am unpacking the books in our new place, this summer.
Meanwhile there is reorganization to do. I already did a fairly major re-org project in one of the bedroom bookcases. Now it is time to do the one that's been in the dining room. It won't be in the dining room after we move, because we won't have a dining room.
The bookcase in question presently holds the Art, Jewelry, & Nature collection. Except it is no longer coherent, because there are a lot of other Art, Jewelry, & Nature books in the big black vitrines that line our living room. I was looking in there this week and took three out of nine books off a certain shelf, but as I looked at the result, and looked over at the vitrines, I realized there needs to be a major rationalization. Which will probably result in more books going out.
I recently re-did the black vitrines in order to rationalize our travel collection, including a lot of maps, which were all over the place and messy (not any more).
So many books have left the library that the vitrines now hold a lot of non-book items, and consequently look cluttery.
The onlooker might think "why bother, fix it after you move" but the point is that I have the time to do this now. After we move, we'll have a House & Garden to fix up and maintain. There will be painting and planting and maybe just sitting in the back yard (we'll have a back yard!!) to enjoy our tiny patch of sky.
