Based on the principle that stating one's intentions helps one to maintain one's motivation, I am sharing a few of my goals for 2010. I would not call these "resolutions," precisely, but all the same it would give me considerable satisfaction to say at the end of next year, "I have done that." In no particular order:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Start making jewelry/art again.
2. Start baking again.
3. Get serious about turning over the Wheel. (it's a yoga thing, I am hopeful Miss E. can help with this)
4. Start learning Argentine Tango.
5. Start putting together books of vacation photos.
6. Get serious about digitizing the music library. (and I'm not allowed to buy any more CDs until I am done with the stack already on the computer desk)
7. Spend more time outside with Mr. P.
8. Start using camera settings beyond "Auto."
9. Start playing piano again.
10. Watch a little less TV. (use DVR more effectively!)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
That's enough to be going on with. I realized, when I started thinking about this, that there would be a number of "start doing thus-and-so again" entries. For several years now, I have let my free time become relatively unproductive; aside from dancing, I have not kept up with hobbies or crafts in any meaningful way. But these other things also have value and I know they are good for my mental health.
Especially No. 7. We live in Southern California, fer cat's sake. We should be outside all the time. And it would definitely help us both with No. 10. Plus, we always have fun when we get out to the beach or to the hills together. So, if a goal were really to be ranked first on this random list, this would be the one.
What about you?
